Haven't had much luck finding decent pix online, and I'm not the jailhouse detective that Billy was, but someone was able to cough up this shot of the old Cordova Mall theater. This was the theater that I saw classics like "Jaws" and "Star Wars" at (along with many others) back in the day. How would you describe the architectural design?* It's commonly referred to as googie.

Also, my collection (thus far) of popcorn to snack on in the coming months. I love these holiday popcorn tins and was upset last year when they sold out mid-December, so I've been stocking up. The empty tins are handy for storing pet foods and birdseed and so on.

Woo! Survived my first colonoscopy and apparently I have gorgeous guts for being nearly 60. Must be all that clean living I've done over the years.

I love your Woodring avatar, Kobbers! Thanks! Even though I have a small collection of Xmas-themed imagery saved back over the years, I was struggling for a December avatar.
I still have some of Woodring's "Jim" comix here at the labs. His stuff reminds me of AI. An alien intelligence attempting to entertain humans but often as not frightening.

I've decided he suffers from severe psychosis. It's the only way to describe the preternatural level of horror of his work. Some of his stuff reminds me of Louis Wain's increasingly abstract cat pictures. Definitely something going on there. I adore his stuff, even if most of it leaves me bewildered. It's like you've got a seemingly traditional cute animal comic and suddenly some esoteric Hindu symbolism comes into play. I'd like to sneak Jim comix into every Florida school library.

*Sorry it's not a shot of the entire place.
If you can see JAWS there it's more than OK with me! It was a great theater for those 70's classics, too. There were only three screens, but they were huge! I still say that watching a good old 60's/70's/80's shot-on-film movie on those rich old theater screens remains superior to digital. Partly because of my assertion that film mimics the human eye better than digital, but I think film also gives a richer, closer-to-natural color range, too.

I've griped every year for the last decade or two about how the work pace/hours increase right around the seasons of year I biologically want to just rest/hibernate. It's really nice this year being able to just slouch off during these short days/longer nights for the first time since I was a kid.

Today I got my latest mortgage statement. I owe only $10,000.09 on my place. Using very crude math -- dividing that figure by the month's payment -- I have less than 2 years of payments left. That'll be like a $600/month raise.

The railroad tracks below the bluffs today. Not another soul in sight as far as the eye(phone) could see. I suppose most folks want to get together with other people to ring in the new year, but I was in my bliss having the whole blessed area to myself. Wish I knew of a safe place to bring the dog down. She'd love it.

Happy to discover that not one, but two cleaning hacks I found on Pinterest work:
For a set-in grease spot that would normally be permanent because the clothing item went through the dryer cycle, just scrub some baking soda into the spot with a wet toothbrush. Let it dry and then rewash. The spot will be gone.
I had another favorite thermal shirt that came out of the wash smelling rank and sweaty. Everything else was clean, as expected. A second wash did not help. I dusted the whole thing diwn with baking soda, let it rest a couple hours, doused the whole thing with vinegar so it fizzed up, let that rest for an hour, then rewashed it. Good as new.

I had a crazy amount of little chickadees or finches in my yard yesterday. It was adorable watching them all dig into the feed I throw out. There's a little colony of them in some thick bushes outside of my neighbor's but I had no idea it had grown to so many!

Hurrah! They had called too many people for the jury duty summons, so all of us who showed up late got to go home.

I've been learning piano. It's going okay. It's not easy. That said, I was able to play "My Way"* by reading the sheet music yesterday. So that's neat.
* A truncated, simplified version, mind you.

I watched one episode many years ago when there was an alert on my fetish board that one of them was supposed to fall into a big puddle of mud. The mud scene was underwhelming and I probably lost an IQ point or two for my trouble.

The only time I ever tuned in was eons ago when I was flipping channels and landed on a scene where Kim had lost her $20,000 ring in some knee-high crystal clear water and didn't want to retrieve it because it might mess up her hair. I think I've mentioned this before, but that had me so mystified...
