I don't know if anyone has watched the video of Melanie's "Brand New Key," but I think the home movies it is played over, are a perfect match for the cute lyrics of this slightly off-color song.
Radio DJs often Called Melanie Safka, simply, "Melanie," and when they did say her surname, it sounded to me like Satka, but apparently is spelled Safka.
One of her songs I especially liked, don't know the title, had the lyric, "ring the living bell."
And some others I can't remember now.
In my search for different versions of songs I like, I remember Melanie did one of them, I don't now remember which, and it didn't sound right as she sung it.
Memory is a strange mixture of things, and sometimes true, sometimes false, and sometimes neither.

Well, I did a quick check, and Melanie sung "Carolina In My Mind," and again, I didn't care that much for her rendition of the song.

Neil Merryweather's Hollywood Boulevard, a Great Companion Piece to Ian Whitcomb's "In Hollywood." Lyrics very soul mated to Ian Whitcomb's "Saunter the boulevards, you're out for hire . . . " Neil looks kind of??? Would the right word be ridiculous? Like he stepped off the label of a Mr. Boston Vodka bottle. And, spreading out that cape behind him, reminds me of the bats that have been giving me and my neighbors such a problem lately. But, play the video and in some of the photos without that 'stache, and too long hair, and smiling, with him smiling, he looks OK. And, regardless of how Neil might "look" in any particular photo, the lyrics in Hollywood Boulevard are really great, as with the King of Mars, probably my favorite from that album, although Hollywood Boulevard comes close as second place. And, the other songs are all good, too.

Webmaster Deeky, you said you had not heard Yellow River, one of Billy's Favorite Music Videos, although you gave me a full report (Gunhill road, who you didn't care for lyrics) on that song.
But, you did post the video "Don't Pull Your Love" by HJF & R, so you must have heard some or all of it, and had some familiarity with that group. Sorry that Dan Hamilton died relatively early in 1994, but maybe he was good, since Only the Good Die Young.
Well, I said that "Anabella" was my favorite of HJF & R, so I am finally adding it to my Favorite music vids threadl.

Well, I checked the Cowboy and the Lady by that Ole George Peters / Ron Dwyer lookin thing, Bobby Goldsboro, and I don't like it enough to add it to this list.
I'll look for some other Bobby Goldsboro songs, mabye "Watching Scotty Grow," for example. Others includ "Can You Feel it," "I'm a drifter" (lyric or song title?), one song starts off "Sometimes I imagine myself as a drifter," same song or another one.
Memories of Bobby Goldsboro songs are a mixed up jumble to me. I think I might need one good un for this list, but maybe no more than one.

OK, I've decided on I'm a Drifter for my first Bobby Goldsboro song, and I'm considering a few more.

Deeky, was it Lionel Ritchie who you posted a photo of back on the "You Ole Bobby Goldsboro Lookin' Thing," on the old ZAQBoard? I might have already saved it as I have wandered thru the old board for a final look.
So, along with George Peters and Ron Dwyer being Ole Bobby Goldsboro lookin' things, we can also call Lionel Ritchie an Ole Bobby Goldsboro Lookin thing.
Or, as I've changed things in this thread, Bobby Goldsboro is now an Ole Lionel Ritchie Lookin' Thing.
I liked all of the photos of Bobby's Album covers, and on one of them he looked exactly like Lionel Ritchie in that photo Our Webmaster posted to the old board. While reviewing the old ZAQBoard takes time, it is worthwhile to give it a final farewell look, and save a relatively few goodies from it.
As I stated earlier, saving Jonny's Snapshot work was first priortity, and worth posting here, and not just keeping for myself.

Who am I? Rain man? I can barely remember what I posted five hours ago, much less five years ago. Deeky, I am also very forgetful. That is why I am going thru the old ZAQB, and a lot of stuff I had long forgotten is coming back to me. Looking over all those Bobby Goldsboro rrecord covers, I"m impressed by how different he looked and how many different faces he had, just like Lon Chaney. I'm sure there are plenty of other people he looked like in his many different faces, in addition to 2 porno actors, and one famous other singer. As I watch that video, I'm sure more resemblances to other celebrities will turn up. Or, I might not want to waste my time watching that video again, although I do like the song.

Deeky, I might have saved the Ole Bobby Goldsboro Lookin'Thing thread a long time ago. I've saved the files to all kinds of places, on my desktop PC, and on that device, the desktop screen, the Billy Anderson documents and settings on the C drive, on the D drive, and on the plain My Documents.
Recently, I scoured the locations and made notes of those locations of the files I did save, and the ones that were partially saved, so I can complete them (the Oliver Twink being an example; I had saved only page one, but now have saved page 2 to complete it. I remember you saying Billy Anderson could do a great play by play description of the action sequences, although so far I have concentrated on the dialog and plot continuation, as well as the opening and closing credits. That is a Still an In Progress Project, and transcribing the dialog, some of it is a bit unclear. Does the download, or DVD you have on that film have closed captions? The DVD you sent me doesn't have a menu with closed captions on it, and my DVD player (the one on top of the tube TV set, does have a button for closed captions on it, but when I press it, no captions come on the screen. Maybe closed captions weren't included with Oliver Twink?)
Well, that is getting off the subject. I have found all of those spread out all over everywhere files I saved from the Old ZAQB board, and am now in the middle of a project to put them onto CD.
That reference I made to notes, was done on the printouts I made of every index thread of the old board: Furums, and lists of posts to each forum.
In my checking out the pages, I have found out, and made notes of, for example the first known mention of Fur Affinit, a phone call I made to Wilum Pugmire (made a note to save the thread that one was on).
Oh, well, I think you can see that I am reviewing the past and will save what I find useful to my Great Work (Of course, the Film Detectivs: Serious Mature Adults Only thread was one of the first, and highest priority threads to save, along with White Camaro, which, at 20 pages was a lot of hard work. I probably won't save the Batman and Beetle Bailey threads. Sort of undecided on Jessee Pomeroy, but the GLBT Nazis thread with Thomas Hannan and his sad story of hijacking an airplane and finally committing suicide, will probably be a keeper).
Shades of Forry Ackerman! What Should have been a very short post turned into a long dissertation.

OK, Folks, time to end the Bobby Goldsboro Kick, with probably my favorite lyric "Daddy never went on a vacation / he died a tired old man at 44."
I was expecting to die a tired old man at 44 myself, but have lived much longer and become a much tireder old man, brittle, as Forry described Bela Lugosi in his last days.
Calling Lon Chaney the Man of 1,000 Faces was of course, an exaggeration. I wonder if anyone ever counted how many different faces Mr. Chaney had in all of his films.
And, Man of 1,000 Faces would be an exaggeration with Bobby Goldsboro, although just looking at that u-tube I previously posted, Bobby Goldsboro definitely could be called a Later Day Lon Chaney with all the Different Faces he Displayed on his record album covers.
And, for Webmaster Deeky, scroll down the u-tube video comments for a Justin Beeber reference.

Deeky, I don't recognize the gentleman in the photo in your post. Can you refresh my memory on who he is? You don't have to. Now I know. I did watch The X-Files some, but didn't remember the name of the character he played, so no reason for you to refresh my memory on the matter. Touche also to Deeky. This was a real roller coaster! Deeky, was it anything like a Zoomerang Roller Coaster? I probably wrote this post before I became familiar with Zoomerang. Apparently Zoomerang is not a registered trademark of a roller coaster company, but is a public domain generic term that, following a recent net search, I found to be used for all kinds of newfangled electronic gadgets and gizmos.

It's a toothpaste AND a floor cleaner! I hadn't caught those 2 products in my net searches. We need to make a list of how many zoomerang products there are. Had anyone here on ZAQB even heard the word, "zoomerang," before Deeky found that ad for the film? If no one here, myself included, had ever heard the word, "zoomerang," before, it is incredible that we somehow missed hearing it all of our lives before Deeky's discovery.
