This has been bothering me off an on for a week now. Is there any such thing as LOW-fructose corn syrup? I think it is just called corn syrup. Karo was a very popular brand decades ago.

As a kid, whenever my grandmother made us pancakes, she'd always have Karo syrup to put on them, none of that maple bullshit.

Karo and other store corn syrups are high-glucose. High-fructose corn syrup has been processed to change the balance of sugars around.

That seems to be the sign of a hardcore fan of the stuff. I know someone who makes baklava with it instead of honey and she calls it kay-roe.

Karo Syrup is one of the best grocery store purchases for at home special effects. Mixed with a good food coloring blend (not all red, you gotta add a touch of blue in there) it makes for great stage blood.

In case, you know, you have to push somebody through a window every night :)

I'm glad you made mention of this. I purchased a variety of zombie/dead-looking Halloween masks for an idea for Halloween 2019. I want to stuff the masks, put fake eyes in them, and "impale" them on the four knobs atop my porch rail. So, been trying to come up with a good idea for gore and viscera to drip down from the "heads". Have considered using the karo/food-coloring idea, but am afraid it will attract hoards of insects. Yea? Nay? Other ideas?

Rubber Cement Mix in a couple drops of food coloring. It dries somewhat shiny so it still look wet.

Oh, man! That sounds great! Might need a somewhat large amount. I wonder if they still sell those tin refill bottles of the stuff. I know rubber cement is highly flammable, but short of some freak accident, I don't imagine that'd be a worry. Anyway, great advice!

Order placed (through my company for discount). I think this should work well because typically with rubber cement, you can just sort of roll it up and off of whatever objects it's on. How would you go about mixing in the red dye? In a little bowl with the goop prior to placing it on the pole to drip down? Or add the goop to the pole and then add the dye? I know, I'm probably over-complicating things...

That's an additional realistic touch! Of course it won't smell right to the carrion flies. But you can't have everything.

THE PUBLIC HER SMELL
I just drove past the Howell Historical Theater and saw these words, with no explanation. I think they need one. Are these the names of movies they're showing?

Her Smell is a fictionalized account of Courtney Love

As if the true story needed fictionalizing!

I was just doing the dishes, and wondering why just compressing our garbage up tight and shooting that shit a million miles off into space isn't a do-able solution to our garbage crises. Then it occurred to me: What if our own eventual first encounter with other life forms was due to their interstellar garbage?
