Made a tasty batch of pfeffernusse. A little heavy on the anise. Think it needed more pfeffer.

Are you thinking of anise in terms of thumbs up or thumbs down?

Are you thinking of anise in terms of thumbs up or thumbs down? Deeky is definitely a thumbs-up-anise kind of guy, unless I've seriously misread him all these years.

We're having a baby shower next week and I wanted a non-dairy fluff salad recipe to bring. I did find one that is 99% dairy-free:
1 21-oz can pie filling (I'm using raspberry) 1 21-oz can crushed pineapple in its own juice, drained 1 big-ass jar of mandarin orange sections, unsweetened, drained 1 c flaked coconut, unsweetened 1 8-oz tub of Cool Whip 2 c mini marshmallows 1 c chopped pecans
I made a test batch using blueberry pie filling and it's pretty good. I forgot the nuts, though.

Oh, Deeky, since you're always barefoot and in the kitchen, you might consider this:

No, Deeky, as much as I patrol supermarkets, that's a first timer for me. Is it on sale in your area?

We can only solemnly pray - each and every one of us who've read Billy's informative breakdown of every single second of the original commercial - that they come out with a "Mr. Most Stuff" ad to promote those.

The green tea pistachio cookies I made came out great. I'm very glad I salted the tops before putting them in the oven. Really adds that certain je ne sais quoi.
I have to say I'm not as sure about the experimental batch of no-bake cookies. I used Hershey's chocolate-hazelnut spread instead of the peanut butter and threw in a few handfuls of pecan halves -- plus an envelope of black walnut pieces -- to offset all that penetrating sweetness. They're exotic-tasting, but a far cry from the school-lunchroom favorite.

Goldie, I have not done any cooking in a long time. I have some dried lentels and beans that I have done the obligatory sifthing thru to get out any hard paarticles I could bite down on (lost 4 big molars doing that in the past so I take it very seriously), and I have measures out several continers with the dried beans and lentels which I want to cook
I'm just feeling so lazy about having to wash my cookiing pans, and having to soak the dried beans and lentels over night before cooking, the reason I don't do so.
And, I don't like cooking because I don't like to wash dishes and pots and pans by hand. I have never trusted elecric, automatic dishashers to get dishes clean enough for my satisfaction. But, It's time I do cook those legumes that I have kept so long.

How long does the quilting bee think is safe for coffee beans to sit (unopened) before being ground up for use?
