A big part of it is that it was filmed in a really contaminated area, post-Chernobyl, I think, and a lot of people who worked on it got sick as a result. I viewed the episode, and they were indeed filming in an area with contaminated water. But Chernobyl happened after the film and some feel that the film predicted the disaster. Seems pretty cursed to me!

Seems pretty cursed to me! Oh yeah. There was more to their 'cursed' theory than that. Director had a heart attack followed by a nervous breakdown. Footage from the first attempt to film it was supposedly 'damaged' or corrupted. Several of the cast passed not long after it was made, including the director. The place where they'd originally intended to shoot some significant footage had a damn earthquake. Just problem after problem.

Does anybody remember the Night Visions TV show (2001-2002) hosted by Henry Rollins? It was an anthology horror/thriller show. I remember it being pretty good from the few episodes I managed to catch. Anyway, I ran across a cache of both seasons and am debating saving them.

Yeah, I remember that. I also remember liking it, but I may have added some points for the pure Henry factor.

So, I was in Walmart for a back-up Sony DVD player the other day. They've seemingly gotten rid of the dependable $30 ones and now carry $80 ones that are apparently smart-compatible or some shit. Looks like I can still purchase the cheapies through their website, but I am always hesitant to order electronics through the mail.

Yeah, I remember that. I also remember liking it, but I may have added some points for the pure Henry factor. Right! It was from a pre-9/11 era where TV was pushing boundaries, but obviously they were still hindered as far as going gonzo with the gore or nudity like Tales from the Crypt could on cable. I'm probably going to go ahead and grab both seasons just because of my undying love for horror anthologies and because they're right there, begging to be taken in by a caring home.

Found this infograph on Reddit and decided to check and see if I was missing anything in popular music by looking up each of the songs.
Short answer is "Nope". Not that they were necessarily "bad", mind you. Just so bland and uninspired. Like music-by-committee.

Grabbed the first season of the classic In Search of... TV series, along with all three of the looong In Search of Darkness TV programs. At this point, I'm really hoping they can keep my head alive so I can watch everything even if my body goes.

When I brought the latest Hypno up for printing I made a huge gaff. One of the first things the lady behind asked was whether I'd seen "Deadpool & Wolverine" yet. I said no, although I planned to that night.
Anyway, we got to talking about alien encounter movies, as that is the focus of this new issue. I mentioned how the worst by far this time around was a Wesley Snipes movie called "The Recall" (2017) and how I love Snipes but he seemed to have hit the skids, movie-wise. Little did I know that he shows up, playing fucking Blade, in "W&D", one of the biggest blockbusters in movie history.

But wait! There's more! A gaff is a large handheld hook, usually used for hailing murdered fish. A gaffe is a blunder.

I knew something had happened in that vein, but I had forgotten that it was that bad. He has done some acting since. He reprised his Deadwood role for the 2019 13-years-after-the-fact movie they used to wrap up the storylines that their sudden cancellation back in '06 prevented.

I have this co-worker who's a musician (he was in an all-therapist band once called the Shrunken Heads), but his awareness of what's going on in the music world is remarkably narrow. Yesterday I explained to him what ska is and played him a snippet of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" as interpreted by the Portsmouth Sinfonia. After work I also texted him 2 ska songs about mental illness, so he can learn without getting too far outside his comfort zone. He's my age but has not progressed past listening to the same few Led Zeppelin and Who records. ON CASSETTE.
I feel as if this were my good deed for the day.
