A Subgenii pal mentioned this magazine. Some of the covers are hilarious. Appears to be a surreal version of The Onion from what I can make out.

The concept of a more surreal version of the Onion makes me want to sign on immediately! Right? He saw them at some zine fest* in San Francisco, so was able to actually leaf through some. I'm still a little hesitant due to price and taxes/shipping. I love the Spring 2023 issue's cover: FIRE RAY HELPS FORESTS DEVELOP HERD IMMUNITY.
*Yes, they apparently still have those.

I've been viewing old The Night Gallery episodes for October this year, and in season 2 episode 3 Arte Johnson plays a disc jockey who becomes trapped in a sinister radio station in a short called "The Flip Side of Satan". He tries playing the platters provided by the station and they're all creepy horror-sorts of music. I know this is a total long shot, but do any music experts know the artists or pieces he plays?

We might if we had any idea what Arte played... Sorry. I was hoping I could find some of these The Night Gallery episodes on YT, but I guess that would be copyright violations or some such. I kind of got an answer to the question on a Halloween forum. Apparently, the jazz great who did the original theme music for TNG, Gil Melle, did the music for the tunes on the platters Arte plays. Thing is, I have my doubts. The last record sure. It sounds like what a jazz artist would attempt for "psychedelic satanic music", but it's the other records that I suspect were older orchestral scores.
Anyway, with no way to share the episode with you, it's a moot question, I suppose.

The agency just bought 3 new cars and they have those damn touch screens that are so distracting...but on one such screen I discovered a Playlist channel called First Wave. The first few songs were ultra-light synth pop which I found quite tolerable...but then they played "Damaged Goods," the tender love ballad by Gang of Four, and I knew I was really onto something.

Has anybody caught Gravity Falls? It came up on a thread at another forum when I mentioned how great Over the Garden Wall was.

Anybody recognize where he is from the bridges in the background? I wonder if that's a sort of "hint" as to where it might take place?
